Exercise for Chronic Health

I've worked in this field for over 25 years now and I work with diverse populations for their fitness goals—from young athletes looking to better their game skills, to ladies who want to loose pounds, to people overcoming life threatening conditions looking to regain a sense of where they now fit in their world.

What I’ve come to realize that when it comes to making a change of any type in your life there is balance that needs to be upset in order to tip the scales in one directions or the other—success or failure—the tug to success is going to involve hard work/effort, and in order for our bodies to accept this workload, we have to create a greater pull towards this outcome than exists in the easy balance of staying where we are—comfortable but unsatisfied.

Which pull is greater in your mind? For me, when I compare levels of effort between my varied populations, I tend to see that those who feel they have more at stake or more to gain by adopting a state of chronic health tend work a lot harder to get ahead of their circumstances and usually will realize more improvements in their overall quality of life.

It’s the drive-this intangible feeling that something has to change and nothing less will be accepted—that moves mountains and overcomes obstacles. This requires a shift in what we focus on--the negative side or the positive: Declining health/Chronic Conditions vs Vitality/Chronic Health. On a subconscious level, we program our minds-all our energy and efforts to move in the direction of our focus. So what if we can shift our focus to tip the scales in our favor, great outcomes await us. Reprogramming your mind can also rewire your body--the two are truly inseperable!
